Christmas music certainly has a polarizing side. Some people listen to it 12 months a year, while others can’t handle more than a few seconds of listening.
However, among those who love or at least tolerate this type of music, there are some songs that arouse indignation, disgust, or even anger.
Sometimes it’s the musical arrangements, while for others it’s the lyrics that infuriate. Finally, in many cases, simply hearing the song too much means we can no longer tolerate it.
With this in mind, CNN culture journalist AJ Willingham decided to compile a list of the Christmas songs people love to hate.
Below are the selected works:
“A Wonderful Christmas Time” by Paul McCartney (1979)
“Do They Know It’s Christmas,” Band-Aid (1984)
“Dear, It’s Cold Outside” by Frank Loesser in 1944
“The Chipmunks’ Song” Alvin and the Chipmunks (1958)
“Grandma Got Run Over by a Reindeer” Elmo and Patsy (1979)
“Santa Baby”, Eartha Kitt (1953)
“The Little Drummer Boy” by Katherine Kennicott Davis, 1941
“Christmas Shoes” New Song (2000)
“Dominique the Ass” Le Monte (1960)
“Last Christmas,” Wham! (1986)
