In a press release issued Friday evening, the Department of Health and Social Services (MSSS) announced that these checks will first be available gradually in 10 province administrative regions: Morrissey, Center de Quebec, Estéry, Montreal, Ottawa, and Chaudere. -Appalaches (three RCMs), Laval, Lanaudière, Laurentians and Montérégie.
Dissemination will then continue to all primary schools in Quebec within a few weeks, the press release said.
These tests will be used for students who show symptoms similar to those of COVID-19 during the day.
All regions where tests will be deployed rank highest for the rate of active cases per 100,000 population. Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean arrives at 12NS Ranking 11.9. By comparison, the Laval region has 182.3 active cases per 100,000 inhabitants.
The screening program will be implemented in coordination with school service centers, school boards and private school principals in the respective regions. Approximately 1,600 institutions were targeted.
Currently, there are only two schools Primary in Saguenay-Lac-Saint-Jean where COVID-19 cases have been reported in the past 14 days.
The screening program is already underway in four neighborhoods in the city of Montreal.
