talk | ‘Frida’ qualified for the Oscars 2022

A breath of fresh air on the morning of November 11, 2021, as the country faces an acute crisis, comes to us from “Frida”. Gessica Géneus, which premiered at the 74th Cannes International Film Festival in June 2021, is eligible for the 2022 Oscars!!! The news was first announced to us this morning by the same Director.

“It’s awful because we were among the last to submit. We were so afraid that the request would be turned down. So we were doubly relieved when we received the confirmation. Yes, yes, the film was selected for the 2022 Oscars. I wanted Haitians to know it first,” says Jessica Genos, who tries to keep her calm and humble even though she is all excited about this news. “At the request of the Oscar Selection Committee for Haiti (through the Haitian Ministry of Culture), the film ‘Frida’ was submitted to the Academy, which approved this nomination and qualified the film to represent Haiti at the 2022 Academy Awards,” she explains succinctly.

From now on, the entire team is mobilized to ensure that Freda, this Gessica Generus-directed film by SaNoSi Productions-Ayizan Production-Merveilles Production and Nours Distribution, can feature at the Academy Awards. As the director says, “The road is long.”
