The Toronto Blue Jays are said to be finalizing a plan to renovate Rogers Center with estimated costs of $200 million to $250 million.
It was Sportsnet that broke the news on Wednesday. The organization would like to redesign the lower stands and update the customer experience at the stadium, which was completed 32 years ago.
Populous, which has notably worked with Jays to improve TD Ballpark in Dunedin, Florida, where the team has a training complex and where forced to stay due to the COVID-19 pandemic, is set to handle the new project.
The plans are expected to be revealed next month and the renovation work could be completed within a few years. This will be done mainly during the seasons.
Also according to Sportsnet, the Blue Jays have made several additions and changes to their stadium in recent years, including the sound system and giant scoring screen. Beyond these improvements, President Mark Shapiro’s goal will be to increase his team’s income.
