Brock Lesnar was scheduled to face Roman Reigns for the Universal Championship, but eventually ended his night as WWE Champion.
In fact, Reigns had to give up his match on day one since he tested positive for COVID-19 just a few hours before the show. WWE officials decided to keep Lesnar on the card by giving him a spot in the WWE Championship match.
The 4-Way Match was supposed to be a killer, but it turned into a 5-Way Match. Lesnar found himself the first goal of the game early in the match, but eventually regained control and finished with an F5 on Big E for a count of three. A pin created directly on the WWE Champion that usheres in a new era.
It has been clarified that Brock Lesnar is still a free agent and can appear on RAW and SmackDown despite being the WWE Champion. A new era for Lesnar will be one to watch and we’ll learn more about it during the next episode of RAW, on January 3, 2022.
