In Brest, a new meeting place for precarious students – Brest

Ten years after the establishment of Al Tadamun Grocery in the Faculty of Science, a place of life was created to help students facing difficulties. This is the second part of the National Agoraé project, which aims to provide solutions to the problems of nutrition and the breakdown of social ties at the university.

For Estelle Blouch, president of the Fédé B (a federation of 36 student societies in Brest, Quimper, Saint-Brieuc, Morlix and Lannion), this place is very important in the current health context: “The audience we reach has suffered,” she explains. “And students with a complicated financial situation, we suspect these are not the ones who would go to the movies, go for a drink with friends, or get into culture if they couldn’t eat right. Here they would be able to find each other.”

This new friendly venue will provide workshops, training and discussion times as well as advocacy offices to allow youth to be assisted in their administrative procedures. Choosing to settle at the Bij (Youth Information Office) is wise to take advantage of the on-site resources and team of experts on a number of student issues. For his part, Fédé B will give more clarity to Bij’s work. Since Thursday, January 13, the doors have officially opened, and the opening will take place in the spring.
