Martin arrives in St. Louis as a bowling dog at the Brotherhood of National Hockey League coaches.
Behind the scenes, his appointment by the Montreal Canadiens raised some eyebrows in the middle, as St-Louis, whose only experience was off the bench in the Pee-Wee ranks, was a favorite of career coaches for the prestigious position.

This reality can be extra stress, but it doesn’t frighten St. Louis at all, the man of challenges if ever there was one.
“I know I will be judged by how I carry out my plan. He admitted that wins have to come, during an interview with TVA Sports before the Canadians’ game against Columbus Blue Jackets. I am ready to a challenge. It’s not something that scares me.”
St. Louis also had good words of assistants Luke Richardson, Alex Burroughs and Trevor Litofsky, who facilitated his arrival at the club’s helm.
“We started getting to know each other, in terms of personality and ideas,” he said. They helped me a lot in the first match. I’m really starting to understand why there are four coaches on the bench now, because it’s going so fast: replays, offsides, and all of that…”
