Artturi Lehkonen scored his first two-goal performance in over two years as the Montreal Canadiens beat Ottawa Senators 2-1 on Saturday night.
He was also lifted by Andrew Hammond 27 saves for his return to Ottawa, the team with which he made his National Hockey League debut, thus signing CH to a fifth straight win.
Lehkonen opened the scoring late in the first half, ripping off Ben Chiarot’s rebound before firing past Matt Murray.
After Colin White tied the match in a power game after the first break, Laconin put Montreal back in charge with a floating smack shot that baffled Murray late in the middle.
It was the Finnish winger’s first double since January 2020.
The defensive unit Hammond and Habs then held out against the Senes deprived of two important defensive elements, Thomas Chabot and Nikita Zaitsev.
