Jordan Harris would be entitled to baptism of fire against an NHL authority. Interim coach Martin St. Louis has confirmed that Harris will be on the CH roster on Saturday against the Tampa Bay Lightning.
This will be the first match for Harris, who signed his first professional contract last week.
Harris has alternated with veteran David Savard in training, according to teammate Patrick Friullet. St. Louis confirmed that he will replace Chris Weidman.
“If you let him go as soon as he arrives, you don’t give him a chance to be successful. He’s been with us for three or four days and I think he understands how we work better. It puts him in a better position to be successful,” St. Louis explained.
Harris took part in a warm-up against the Panthers earlier this week, before taking part in his first training session with his new Rally teammates on Wednesday.
Harris finished his college career with a season of five goals and 20 points in 39 games this year, with the Northeastern University strongmen.
He was selected in the third round by the Canadians in the 2018 draft.
In addition, forward Brendan Gallagher returned to training with his teammates on Friday. However, he was wearing a contactless shirt.
The game will also mark St. Louis’ first game as head coach at Tampa Bay, where he played most of his football career.
