Radio X: Jeff Fillion will be hosting his last show tomorrow

Tomorrow, controversial radio host Jeff Fillion will leave his microphone for CHOI FM.

Philippe Lefevre, Vice President of RNC Media, the group that owns the station, announced in a press release that “By mutual agreement, RNC and Jeff Fillion have finally agreed that he will host his last show on CHOI RADIO X’s radio broadcasts tomorrow.”

The press release adds that no further comment will be issued.

Exactly two weeks ago, Jeff Fillion surprised the radio world by announcing that he was leaving the station in August.

The station argued that Fillion rejected the proposed renewal offer.

The host, on Radio Pirate, his internet radio that runs parallel to him, rather replied that “RNC did not comply with my requests and terms and chose not to offer me a new contract.”

He also said on his Internet radio that he will focus on the future when his association with Radio X was officially terminated on April 14.

Jeff Fillion arrived at CHOI in 1996. The station would be restructured in 1998 and would later take the name Radio X. Often qualified by some as Radio Garbage, a translation of the English term trash radio.

Faced with legal action, including a case with Sophie Chiason that would go to court, and numerous complaints to the CRTC, Jeff Fillion first left CHOI FM in 2005.

He returned there in 2016 after a two-year stint at NRJ 98.9 which ended in controversy.

According to experts in the broadcasting world, the lack of renewal of the host contract for 54 years may be related to the fact that the station is still for sale.

The station added that from now until the launch of the new fall program, Yannick Marceau, with the assistance of Patricia Vincent and François Garipe, will take the slot occupied by Fillion, from 11:30 am until 2 pm.
