With the arrival of summer, tourists are beginning to wander the streets of Quebec. On the other hand, even if the tourist season is welcomed with great enthusiasm, there are still some challenges.

The tourist season has officially been launched to the delight of restaurant and hotel owners. Some even believe that the tourist season will be better than it was in 2019.
“I will tell you that 95% of my customers are people from abroad and from the rest of Canada,” Cedric Laplante, director of the Chez Jules brewery, said in an interview with TVA Nouvelles on Sunday.
Tourists have returned from all over the world. Cruise ships also started. “We have work, it feels good,” said Julie Pourier, manager of Café Smith.
However, there is still a challenge of labor shortages. Firms adapt, particularly by adjusting working hours.
“When you don’t have the necessary staff, it puts a burden on all the good staff,” said Michel Doret, owner of hotels in Old Quebec.
“We are all already working more hours than we can or even want to, but we don’t have a choice if we want to be able to take advantage of the season,” Ms Doré added.
This situation, far from being obvious, will force many business owners to reconcile this deficiency.
