Microsoft is releasing a new Windows 11 update, KB5014770. It is intended for computers registered on the BETA channel of the Windows Insider Program.
Installing it allows the operating system to be upgraded to version 22621.160. KB5014770 is the first cumulative update for Windows 11 22H2. It brings some new features including support for tabs by file explorer.
Microsoft has remained very cautious about the immediate future of this progress. Obviously, we don’t yet have any information regarding his arrival or non-arrival at 22H2. The answer is now known. So the predictions that it would not be one of the novelties of 22H2 was very pessimistic.
The giant is shifting gear with tests being carried out on a larger number of machines and especially with a “stable” version of the 22H2. BETA is currently focusing on RTM.
Windows 11 and File Explorer
Thus, Windows 11 update KB5014770 adds tab management to File Explorer. Like a web browser, the main interface makes it easy to create new tabs, to move between them easily or to close them with an X icon.
It is also possible to open a folder in a new tab via the right mouse button to select “Open in new tab”.
In parallel, File Explorer has been updated with a new navigation pane. The left sidebar adopts the general appearance of the operating system while making use of modifications to simplify access to the installed and frequently used folders.

When you access folders synced with OneDrive, such as Documents, Pictures, etc. The title bar displays the correct path to help indicate when your folders are on the cloud versus on-premises.
Microsoft is still rolling out the new File Explorer experience, and it won’t be visible to everyone.
