Jonathan Toews isn’t too excited

Black Hawk captain Jonathan Toews doesn’t seem too excited about being a part of rebuilding the Chicago club.

This is what emerged from his recent interview with the journalist at the sports website The Athletic Mark Lazerus.

“At the end of the day, we’re talking about a five-year process based on what Cale said. [Davidson, le directeur général]. Toews said that aspect does not seem attractive to me at all. I can’t talk about it [Patrick Kane], but I really feel like there’s been a lot of changes every year, and that’s for three or four years. It is very stressful.”

The 34-year-old veteran and Kane will play the final year of their contracts in 2022-23 and could become unrestricted free agents after the campaign. The two skaters earn a salary of $10.5 million.

Frustrating exchanges

On the sidelines of his latest National League draft, Davidson traded two important elements of his attack, Alex DeBrinkat and Kirby Deutch. It was traded respectively to the Ottawa Senators and the Montreal Canadiens.

“Alex DeBrinkat was under Kane’s wing and I like to think Kirby had the same kind of chemistry,” said Toys. They’ve taken the door now. We’ve seen this often. I have learned to be more patient, but there is no doubt that what is to come will be arduous. I’m not going to sit here and say what I’m going to do or what the future holds. I really don’t know what to expect.”

“It’s a shame he got to this, but it is what it is. A lot of that stuff has been out of my control for a while, and it’s a strange place to be in command.”

However, Manitoban will have a say if the “hawks” wish to trade it, as it has an entire non-trade related clause. This is also the case with Kane.
