When the Canadians fired Dominique Ducharme last season, many people were surprised to learn a few hours later that his successor would be Martin St. Louis. The former NHL star, who had no professional coaching experience, was coming on a temporary basis and was getting a chance to prove his worth.
A few weeks later, on the other hand, St. Louis quickly gained unanimous support among CH supporters. The team looked refreshed upon arrival, and several players (including Cole Caufield) returned to play at the height of their talent. The gains didn’t come in by the ton, but they did come in at least a little.
In short, almost everyone was happy to see him sign a three-year contract this summer to return to the helm of the team. However, since the beginning of the camp, we have noticed something: We calmly feel that the criticism of some members of the media towards MSL became more frequent.
And all this made Tony Marinaro wonder In the last episode of his series sick podcast If the honeymoon between St. Louis and the media begins, it slowly ends.

In recent weeks, St. Louis in particular has been criticized for the fact that“The camp runs like a hockey school” and on his philosophy. His lack of experience with the pros is something that happens a lot and we quietly feel he’s less of a consensus.
And frankly, I admit that all these criticisms seem a bit ridiculous to me.
In fact, St. Louis’ philosophy has not changed since last season. He exists to promote the development of young people and wants to encourage them to develop their hockey IQ. His methods may not be traditional (and may not be perfect), but let’s remember that he is a junior head coach trying to install system and culture within the organization.
All this is not done by screaming with scissors. We are talking about a long-term process during which you will encounter difficulties. And as Marinaro points out, I think the lack of pre-season wins doesn’t help (although it doesn’t change anything).
Also take it for granted: The Canadian won’t win many games this season. There is not enough talent for the team to aspire to the playoffs and that’s fine. It’s a season when we prioritize development, and that’s perfect.
Could he be going through a change in the level of questions asked in St. Louis? Since we don’t necessarily aim to win, can we ask him specifically about his players’ improvements and the concepts they gain? Can.
If there is no improvement in the players by next season, we reserve the right to ask questions about the CH coach. However, he got here with a clear, long-term mission: to help the club’s youth develop. We take a deep breath: everything is fine behind the Canadian bench and there is no truly Nothing to worry about.

– Nice read on Arber Xhekaj.
When confinement signed Arber Xhekaj last year, I had reservations about his future role with the club.
Last year, he became one of the most mean-spirited men to ever wear ski boots in OHL, and he’s bringing that pro perseverance afterward. https://t.co/cIiZ0mGNIz
