British Prime Minister Rishi Sunak was fined on Friday for failing to wear a seat belt while filming in the back of a car.
In this video he posted on his account instagramBut it was withdrawn, with the leader of the Conservative government talking passionately about his regional regeneration policy, sitting in the back of a car without wearing a seat belt during a trip to Lancashire in the north of England.
“Error in Judgment”
Soon, criticisms poured in on social media and Rishi Sunak acknowledged the “error of judgement” on Thursday evening. Lancashire Police announced the sentence in a tweet on Friday: “After a video emerged on social media showing a man not wearing a seat belt while traveling in a moving car in Lancashire, we have today offered a conditional fixed penalty to a 42-year-old man from London”.
The Prime Minister has “completely admitted that this was wrong and has apologised. He will certainly conform to the finer package,” a Downing Street spokesman was quick to reply.
Not the first
According to BBCMotorists can be fined 100 pounds (114.2 euros) for not wearing a seat belt and can go up to 500 pounds sterling (571 euros) if prosecuted in court.
This is not the first time Rishi Sunak has been fined. When he was Finance Minister of Boris JohnsonHe was fined in the so-called “partygate” scandal for violating anti-covid rules and attending the Prime Minister’s birthday rally.
