30 days period
The House Foreign Affairs Committee voted Wednesday to give President Joe Biden the ability to ban the Chinese video app TikTok in the United States.
Last week, the White House gave government agencies 30 days to ensure that federal devices do not contain TikTok. More than 30 US states, Canada and political entities in the European Union have banned TikTok from being installed on their employees’ work phones.
China and TikTok’s owner, Byte Dance, reject suspicions that Chinese authorities may be exploiting the app to collect users’ data and promote their interests.
