The 44-year-old actress told Vanity Fair that she had previously told director James Cameron that she had absolutely no interest in reviving her character as pilot Trudy Chacon, who lost her life. The first movie of the franchise was released in 2009.
“I saw James [Cameron] Recently he told me he was thinking of bringing me back for a future movie of the saga. Several other characters from the first movie return in “Avatar 2: The Way of the Water.” I replied: you can’t do that, you died a martyr! “
Michelle Rodriguez has also pointed out to Cameron that she has been brought back many times in the films.
I came back in ‘Resident Evil’ when I wasn’t supposed to. I came back in ‘Machete’ when I wasn’t supposed to. I went back to Leyte [son personnage des films de la saga «Rapides et dangereux», NDLR] When I wasn’t supposed to. We can’t do that for the fourth time! That would be too much! “
“I don’t understand, it’s very strange,” she added about the fact that many of her movie characters have been brought back to life. I guess they don’t know what to do with a girl who doesn’t have a boyfriend. Do we keep her alive or do we kill her?
Despite declining to star in the “Avatar” sequel, Michelle Rodriguez will be a very present on the big screen this year. It can be seen in the fantasy action movie “Dungeons and Dragons – Honor of Thieves”, which opens today. She’ll also be back in “Fast X,” the next installment in the “Fast and serious” saga, expected to hit our screens on May 19th.
As for Avatar 2: Waterway, the film just climbed to the top of the ranking of highest-grossing films of all time at the Quebec box office with $20.6 million in receipts collected at provincial halls. James Cameron’s blockbuster has grossed more than $2.3 billion at the global box office since its theatrical release last December.
