Invite young people to discover the world of science

Scientific activities will be held in five localities on the occasion of the 18th of the 24 Hours of Science “the largest science and technology festival” on May 5-6.

In Saint-Philippe, children from 7 to 15 years old can immerse themselves in the world of LEGO MINECRAFT brick construction and architecture, in the Vaisseau d’Or bookstore, on May 6, from 2 pm to 3:30 pm. Participants will learn how to build castles, bridges and personal Minecraft villages, according to the rules of architecture. At La Prairie, young scientists between the ages of 8 and 12 will have the opportunity to spin the top using the force of magnetism, at the Léo-Lecavalier Library, on May 6, between 10:30 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. They will experience the attraction and repulsion of magnets while making a game. In Candyac, it’s time to do alchemical experiments. The Candiac Library will be transformed into a science lab for youngsters, ages 8 to 12, on May 6, from 1 p.m. to 2 p.m. You can get more information at biblio.ville.candiac.qc.ca.

At Delson, science interns ages 9 to 12 will discover how electric current works through various means in the library on May 6, from 9 to 11 a.m.

In Saint Catherine, it will be possible to get books on science on May 5 and 6, from 10 am to 3 pm.

In addition, many online activities and conferences are offered throughout Quebec, incl Science for everyone Presenting 24 hours of virtual science, broadcast live from the Rio Tinto Alcan Planetarium, via the Science à la carte channel on Twitch, on May 5.
