The newlywed gets his visa, cashes his wife’s credit accounts, and disappears

An Australian woman claims her ex-husband abandoned her after he was granted an Australian partner visa.

Isabel Glastonbury, 31, said she met the unknown man from Texas in Dallas in 2015 and got engaged a year later. In 2018, they moved to Australia together.

They fleshed out their union during their dream wedding in Palm Beach with $55,000, which the young woman’s family was going to support.

However, her husband disappeared in January 2021, after obtaining his visa at the expense of Isabel’s parents, who allegedly paid $13,000 to obtain it.

“I came home and 90% of his stuff was gone,” Isabelle told the Daily Mail.

Her husband’s immigration accounts were suddenly blocked, along with his phone number.

She no longer had any way of contacting her husband.

The young woman then learned that all of her credit cards had been emptied.

“He just disappeared: all our mutual friends, our wedding witness and his family, no one knew where he was,” she said.

Upon reflection, she realizes he has become “a recluse and has started disappearing into the night.”

“I think we got married and he got tired and he was too afraid to say anything to my face, but he wanted to continue living in Australia,” she said.

She added that a friend recently informed her that her ex-husband remarried “about a year after our official divorce.”

Meanwhile, Glastonbury has moved in with her high school sweetheart, Max, with whom she has a 3-month-old son, Mason.
