Ho Chi Minh City and CSIRO (Australia) collaborate on technologies and innovation
Duong Anh Duc, Vice President of the People’s Committee of Ho Chi Minh City, received Jonathan Lau, Executive Director of the Australian Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organization (CSIRO).

During the reception, the two sides discussed ways to enhance bilateral cooperation.
Duong Anh Duc acknowledged the significant progress in Vietnam-Australia relations in all fields, including politics, defense, security, investment, trade, culture, education, science and technology.
Acknowledging CSIRO’s role, he proposed that the city and the Australian organization intensify their collaboration on innovative open startup models and the connectivity of their startup ecosystems and share experiences in the development of the triple helix connectivity model. )
He also recommended implementation of strategies to commercialize research results of universities, policies and models to attract private sector participation in the development of ecosystem of innovative startups.
Welcoming these recommendations, CSIRO’s Executive Director Jonathan Law said his organization has experience and strengths in developing the triple helix model and applying scientific research from universities and research institutes to commercial products in the service of everyday life. . He said CSIRO is ready to share its experiences with Ho Chi Minh City.
CSIRO is also set to participate in the city’s Digital Transformation and Innovation Week (WHISE) later this year to exchange knowledge and experience in technology development and innovation with Ho Chi Minh City.
CSIRO maintains close ties with Vietnam, with collaborative projects in the fields of aquaculture, space and future technologies. CSIRO is one of the sponsors and managers of the Aus4Innovation program which will be implemented in Vietnam from 2018.
