The Toronto Blue Jays have one thing to worry about in the All-Star game, and that’s the health of their loyal star Jordan Romano.
The latter entered the game in the seventh inning with America leading 2-1 over the National League. Will Smith forced a fly ball to right field for the first time.
Romano then saw former teammate Lord Guuriel Jr. hit the fifth pitch of the game into the left field bleachers and the officials initially described it as a home run. But the director of the American Dusty Baker asked to review the game.
While the officials were examining the footage, Romano visited the coach and his game director on the mound and subsequently left the game, accompanied by the coach. He was replaced by Michael Lorenzen.
Baker told MLB’s Ken Rosenthal during the game broadcast that Romano felt stiffness in his lower back, which caused him to leave the mound. He was going to get stiff while she was warming up, but he thought she would go once in battle.
Ontario leads Major League Baseball with 26 saves, tied with Camilo Duvall of the San Francisco Giants and Alexis Diaz of the Cincinnati Reds.
Toronto is back in action on Friday with a series against the Arizona Diamondbacks. National won the All-Star Game 3-2 to end a drought dating back to 2012.
