The summer festival runs through Sunday and there are plenty of options if you want to grab a bite to eat before or after the show. After offering suggestions for eating on the go last week, today I’m suggesting places where you can sit in good company a few steps away from the various stages. Happy end to the festival!

The two 22
There’s always a lively atmosphere at this downtown Mexican specialty restaurant, whether indoors or on the gorgeous wooden terrace in the back. This is the perfect place to sip a margarita or pisco tart accompanied by delicious barbacoa tacos, nachos or empanadas with braised pork, feta and olives, served with delicious homemade ketchup. The kitchen closes at 10pm, but between 10pm and 11pm it is possible to order nachos, guacamole appetizers, and chicken wings. The bar closes at 3am especially for FEQ if you want to extend your evening!

The project
The fried chicken from this restaurant in the Saint-Jean-Baptiste neighborhood alone is worth the detour! If you also manage to get your hands on one of the few spots on the balcony in front of the churchyard, that’s the jackpot! The bar specializing in Quebec microbreweries and ciders also has 30 cask lines for great finds. You will then only have to climb up Claire Fontaine Street to find yourself near the main sites. The kitchen closes between 10pm and midnight depending on traffic and the bar is open until 1am each evening.

Craighoff Cafe
A true emblem of Rue Quartier, this café has plenty of seating on its terrace overlooking the street, but also in the inner courtyard. In case of rain or extreme heat, you can also benefit from the air-conditioned and warmly decorated dining room. Will you be tempted by famous poutines, like country singer Zac Bryan’s Order 70 after the show on Sunday? Otherwise, the traditional croque-monsieur is still quite comfortable!

Grand Alley Pub
Whoever said Summer Festival says Grande Ale! The road gets busy during the action and there is something for everyone. I especially like the terrace tavern, where it’s nice to have a drink in a festive atmosphere and nibble to our liking. Breaded cheddar cheese meatballs and served with Dijonnaise sauce are perfect for sharing, as are nachos and chicken wings in Firebarns’ homemade sauce. Obviously, there are poutine, hamburgers, and other delicacies on the menu. The institution is open until 3 am.

Fancy a good meal before a long evening at the festival? Conveniently located opposite the Grand Théâtre de Québec, Le Quarante 7 will delight you with its creative cuisine. For a quick meal, five-star dishes are offered for only $25 during the summer (until 1any September), including their famous beef or salmon tartare and vegetarian risotto with fresh mushrooms. In addition, indoor parking is free for customers for the duration of the shows, whether for FEQ or other events such as ComediHa!.
