It’s very rare to get excited while sitting in the barber’s chair at the hairdresser. However, this is what happened to Arber Hikaj on 29 June. He learns that his brother, Florian, was recruited by the Canadians while he’s cutting his hair.
This is what he revealed to the media daily confrontation.
Brothers Arber and Florian Xhekaj are unlikely to be teammates #GoHabsGo organized. But they did team up, helping to make the world a better place through their charitable work.

Arber explains that he was at the hairdresser’s and asked the staff to put the NHL draft on TV. At some point, there was a commercial break. Upon his return from the break, Arber was very surprised to see that his brother had been drafted by CH.
Then he got up from his chair and threw his bag away, and was very happy at the news.
It’s totally understandable, his brother was just drafted by the organization he currently plays for. It was also a point of pride, as he was never drafted into the NHL. It was a goal that the Xhekaj family had achieved.
Meanwhile, Florian has been working out in the gym with his Hamilton Bulldogs teammates. One of his coaches was watching the draft on his laptop.
Suddenly his phone rang, it was his agent. Tell her the good news: He was drafted by the Canadiens in the fourth round.
You have to be honest, the training had to take the edge off pretty quickly. It’s hard to focus after receiving such good news. What’s even more exciting for Florian is that he wasn’t drafted into 2022 in his first year of eligibility. So it was very surprising.
Florian Xhekaj still has a lot to prove, but if he follows in his brother’s footsteps, he will manage to make a name for himself with the Canadian. He will continue his coaching career with the Bulldogs in the OHL through the 2023-24 season.
Last year, Florian scored 25 points in 68 games in the OHL. It’s not an impressive stat, but it was only his first season in the OHL.
He’s a player with heart who isn’t afraid to play physical. He’s exactly the kind of player who becomes a fan favorite in Montreal.
