The countdown has begun: in a few days, on August 26, 2023, the long-awaited Harnois Énergies Butterfly Bike Challenge will kick off. A day dedicated entirely to sports, fun and solidarity, this not-to-be-missed event promises to deliver an exceptional experience for participants from all walks of life. The event is a presentation of Desjardins Caisse de Joliette, Lanaudière Centre, Dunton Rainville and Saint-Charles-Borromé.

The event will start with the Casavant-Desrochers Park, known for its natural beauty and welcoming atmosphere, which will welcome nearly 500 cyclists in an atmosphere of true camaraderie.
The versatility of Défi Vélo Papillon Harnois Énergies is one of its main advantages. With five distinct courses suitable for different skill levels, the event celebrates inclusivity and encourages participation from all. Whether you are an experienced athlete or an amateur, there is a course to suit your ambitions and abilities: Valero Course (119 km), Devolution Course (85 km), Group Robillard Course (66 km), Joliet Lions Club Course (43 km) and Mallo Group Course (5 km). ).
In addition to the fun of cycling through the wonderful landscapes of the region, Défi Vélo Papillon Harnois Énergies also offers all-day activities. We start with a warm-up period for the participants and the cyclists’ friends and families will then be able to enjoy the inflatable games and activities in the park.

The Harnois Énergies Papillon Bike Challenge is more than just sporting fun. By participating in this exceptional event, you are supporting a cause dear to the people of Lanaudière: the cause of Camp Papillon, which has been well established in the area since 1938. The money generated from this event contributes to funding accommodation for young people with disabilities at Camp Papillon. Papillon, thus providing a life-changing experience. The camp offers specially adapted activities to allow these young adults to experience the adventure of summer camp like all other children. Activities such as swimming, adaptive water skiing, rock climbing, archery, fishing and campfires build self-confidence, develop social skills and provide moments of pure happiness.
Camp Papillon is an important part of the chain of services offered by the Papillon Foundation. Since its inception in 1930, the Foundation has worked tirelessly to improve the lives of people with disabilities. In addition to Camp Papillon, the Foundation offers comprehensive day care, boarding, a day center for 21-year-olds, a day camp, and an occupational therapy and early stimulation clinic. Each service is designed to meet the specific needs of individuals and allow them to reach their full potential.
