Vedia and the Local Media Network are collaborating to create and broadcast a brand new science and technology dissemination program ‘Science Hebdo’. 20 weekly capsules will be broadcast on all local media from September 4, 2023 to January 21, 2024. Presented and written by Arnaud Stepen.
But in the end, what is Science Hebdo? is a program created by Vidya and LMN on the Scientific Singularity, a recent and interesting discovery that provides answers about what science can do “positively” in the daily lives of individuals, and about the progress of science and its impact on society. FWB Citizens Lives.
These capsules also aim to (re)discover young people in order to encourage scientific careers, emphasizing the importance of science, technology, engineering and mathematics and the representation of women in these studies and in technical and technological professions.
Topics will be covered during these capsules such as:
• Life elsewhere? A key molecule for understanding the origin of life has been discovered in the Orion Nebula
Alchemy: a pseudoscience for men?
• Aspartame: a combination for weight loss or a health hazard?
• What is the future of renewable energies in Wallonia?
What is the concept?
Disseminate global scientific news targeting the general public, and young people (in an equal way), in particular, giving priority to the dissemination of research and modern scientific and technological progress in Belgium. All while producing and broadcasting live and on Facebook for a series of 20 weekly capsules that last +/- 2’30. The broadcast of these capsules will be translated on air to attract the attention of the deaf and hard of hearing. Reruns will also be shown in the following days by other local media.
Local media provides broadcasting both on air and on social networks, which allows for strong audience recognition. The project will benefit from the expertise of the local media, whether in terms of producing capsules or distributing them on social networks.
See you on September 4, 2023 for the first broadcast of the new program “Science Hebdo”.
