Eleven people on a Delta Air Lines plane were taken to hospital while a plane arriving from Milan encountered severe turbulence.
Flight 175 was about 40 miles (64 km) northeast of Hartsfield-Jackson Atlanta International Airport when the crew reported severe turbulence, according to the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA), and Fox 59 reports.
The Airbus A350 landed safely at the airport shortly before 7pm.
Delta Air Lines said 11 passengers and crew members were taken to hospital. But it is not known what the condition of their injuries is.
Delta said, according to Fox 59, that the plane was carrying 151 passengers, ten flight attendants and four pilots.
“Delta Care team members are mobilizing to contact customers,” Delta said in a press release.
“Our priority is to take care of our injured customers and crew,” the air carrier adds.
The company says Delta agents are offering food, accommodations and rebookings to customers who survived Flight 175 unharmed.
