Here is the text of the presentation for this distinction: “It is with great pleasure that the Council bestows the Mayor’s Award in the Nomination and Recognition category on Mr. Yannick Benoit, as he is one of the most promising Canadian researchers of his generation.
Originally from Saint-Georges-de-Champlain, Mr. Benoit has been an Assistant Professor and Director of Research in Biomedical Sciences at the University of Ottawa Faculty of Medicine since 2017. His work consists of developing innovative therapies to treat breast cancer. Colon.
During his career, he has won numerous awards, including a Young Scientist Scholarship in 2015. Most recently, Mr. Benoit received a major grant from the federal government, worth $895,000 over five years, to support his research work.
