After 16 games, Pierre-Luc Dubois’ efforts were criticized in Los Angeles

It was the Pierre-Luc Dubois case that generated the most talk this summer in the four corners of the NHL.

And I don’t think it’s really necessary to remember all the details of this rather ridiculous story.

The Quebecois player now finds himself in Los Angeles, with a club that has the talent to see him move forward. The Kings selected him because they believed Dubois would add raw talent and depth to the quarterback position, which makes sense because the player has some great skills in his tool bag.

But we see these qualities when Dubois wants to give everything he has… and therein lies the problem.

His inconsistency has been criticized in the past when he played for the Blue Jackets and Jets. Things are no different now that he is wearing the colors of kings.

Helen Elliott, a reporter covering sports in Los Angeles, threw him under the bus for the lack of effort we’ve seen from Dubois since the start of the season:

Pierre-Luc Dubois has nine points (five goals) in sixteen games this season with his new team.

We’re talking about “correct” production, nothing more… especially in a context where Quebecers earn a salary of $8.5 million a year.

But points do not matter if the player puts in the required effort in every other match. Dubois has everything it takes to be useful to his team: he has size, has great offensive qualities and can be a liability on the ice defensively.

Things are looking better for Dubois and the Kings because Rob Blake (GM) may start losing hair very quickly.

Alex Iafallo, who was acquired by the Jets in a trade, is used everywhere in Winnipeg because he does things the right way. The former Kings forward is having his best offensive season (13 points in 17 games), and Gabriel Vilardi has only played three games so far for the Jets, who have a 10-5-2 record since the start of the season.

It’s too early to reach a conclusion, but at this point, we can believe the Jets won the deal.
