Don’t touch my blue bubble!
Last week, we learned that Nothing had modified a system that would allow its users to profit from blue bubbles. In fact, it has set up a sort of relay with its servers and mini Macs. The latter was the one who sent/received messages to transfer to Android users! To do this, the company simply used the iCloud IDs provided – voluntarily by customers – during registration.
As one can imagine, the collection was far from secure and led to access to typically encrypted personal data : Name, first name, phone number, email, postal addresses and other items for contact sheets or vCards!
Obviously there was nothing to end this adventure quickly and stop none of the chats. In practical terms, let us remember that she simply had an experience Service provider, Sunbird To ensure compatibility between its messaging app – Nothing Chats.
Now it’s Sunbird’s turn to suspend its platform activity – which it formalized via an email to its users. Indeed, it has announced that it is investigating the security issues raised by Nothing Chats. Introduced in 2022, Sunbird was intended to be cross-platform and supports iMessage, SMS/MMS, Facebook Messenger, and WhatsApp –Kind of interoperability ahead of its time!
