With seven points in 22 games, Montreal Canadiens forward Juraj Slavkovski appears to be developing quite quietly. However, his line partner, Wednesday night against the Columbus Blue Jackets, Cole Caufield, had nothing but good words to say about the young Slovakian.
“He’s been playing well lately,” the No. 22 said after his side’s 4-2 win. He’s gaining confidence and you can see he’s becoming calmer with the puck game. He worked on it. It should continue to grow and we are proud of it.
Caufield particularly praised the Slovakian for his communication on and off the ice.
“The more you play with someone, the easier it gets,” Caufield continued. Communication on the bench and between periods is improving. He’s young and will always have things to work on. I like the direction his game is going and he’s fun to play with.
“I would tell him to shoot a little more. I don’t mind shooting. (…) He will learn by experience. He is a good player, but it will take time.
Caufield did not have a bad game with a goal he scored on a rebound from Christian Dvorak. Slavkowski also collected an assist on the play, his fifth of the season. However, the CH forward looked very poor on the Jackets’ first goal, a goal by Patrik Laine.
The Habs won’t have much downtime as they take on the Florida Panthers on Thursday night at the Bell Center.
