Launched on January 23 and valid for one year, the SILVER Alert pilot project is an initiative of the Ministries of Health, Social Services and Public Safety.
Sending Silver Alerts, in place in three HR centers in Abitibi-Temiscaming, Llanaudère and Central-du-Québec, helps find missing people with a major neurocognitive disorder more quickly, notes the Sûreté of Quebec (SQ).
“The Silver Alert will be sent to residents via Emergency Alert Quebec is on alert When all trigger criteria are met. The project will be rolled out over one year, from January 23, 2023 to January 23, 2024, in the Migrant Resource Centers in Drummond, Joliet and Vallée du Loire.” .
The Silver Alert was launched in Lanaudière on the night of December 25 to 26, and was aimed at finding a septuagenarian who was “disoriented”.
SQ had reason to fear for his health and safety.
The warning was lifted shortly before 4 a.m., nearly three hours after it was issued.
Since launching the pilot project, SQ has monitored the effectiveness of sending out Silver Alerts before expanding communications throughout Quebec.
