Severe turbulence on a flight carrying passengers on a cruise from Barbados to Manchester in the United Kingdom left 11 people injured.
The 225 passengers were heading home in time for Christmas from a multi-day P&O Cruises cruise in the Caribbean, CNN reports.
Shortly after their flight departed on December 23, significant vibrations were felt in the Airbus 300-200 while it was at an altitude of more than 11 kilometers.
An emergency landing was necessary at LF Wade Airport in Bermuda.
All the injured received treatment on the same day and did not have to stay in the hospital.
All 225 passengers on the cruise had to wait until December 26 before they could take off again and return home to England on December 27 on another plane.
P&O Cruises confirmed in a press release that the aircraft that suffered the turbulence will be examined.
“We are truly sorry for the disruption to this flight and have worked hard with local hotels and airlines to ensure they are able to return home as soon as possible,” the company said.
She also explains that she has continuously communicated with travelers to keep them informed throughout this incident.
