Inspired and excited, Karen Martell starts the new year with enthusiasm. The Victoriaville resident recently learned she will represent Canada at the World Disc Golf Team Championships Nov. 6-9 in Perth, Australia.
This will be their second experience as a team on the international stage. He recently helped Canada win gold at the Pan American Team Championships in Warrenville, South Carolina.
In Australia, he feels the national team can count on chances to climb the highest step of the podium. “This is the best Canadian team of all time. No doubt we can aim for gold,” he said.
In this competition, nearly twenty countries will be represented. Karen Martel pointed out that opposition will come mainly from the US and Finland.
The only Quebecer selected for this competition continues his training even in winter. On his 37th birthday, January 27, he will compete in a tournament in Boucherville. “My presence in Australia adds to my motivation,” he said in closing remarks.
