The British Embassy in Côte d'Ivoire will host a reception “next week” at the Ambassador's residence in Abidjan to demonstrate the support of the British government and people for the successful establishment of the Coupe d'Ivoire. Africa of Nations (CAN) will begin on January 13.
“The United Kingdom congratulates the players who play for British clubs and will have the honor of defending the colors of the Ivory Coast national team during the tournament, namely the five Ivorians who will be part of the Elephants' selection: Serge Aurier, Willy-Arnaud Pauly and Ibrahim Shankar (Nottingham Forest); Simon Adingra (Brighton and Hove Albion); and Jean-Michel Cheri (Hull City)”, reports a press release from Great Britain's diplomatic representation in Côte d'Ivoire. So, on the occasion of this high level of African football, the United Kingdom, where football was born and played the Premier League, wants to “celebrate the Africa Cup of Nations 2023 (CAN 2023) here in Côte d'Ivoire, together with millions of football fans”.
The 34th edition of the TotalEnergies CAF Africa Cup of Nations will be held from January 13 to February 11, 2024.
