A crocodile tortoise, whose jaws are strong enough to break bones, has been found in the Cumbria region of northern England, more than 6,000 kilometers from its natural habitat.
Alligator tortoises are commonly seen in Florida swamps and are distinguished by their shells reminiscent of the age of dinosaurs.
However, several residents of the village of Urswick reported seeing a similar specimen.
A resident was eventually able to capture the animal and hand it over to a group of veterinarians called Wild Side Vets, Sky News reported.
The center staff were very surprised when they saw the animal he was.
“I didn't expect it to be an alligator turtle,” says Dr. Don Moll.
The latter indicates that the specimen's owner likely abandoned it in the wild.
“We named him Fluffy,” Mr. Moll continues. He's weirdly cute, so we named him cute.
Fluffy will be moved to a suitable wild habitat for development near Cornwall by the organisation.
On their Facebook page, Wild Side Vets calls on the public not to abandon reptiles in the wild and to seek help from an organization if necessary.
“Hardcore beer fanatic. Falls down a lot. Professional coffee fan. Music ninja.”
