The Saginaw Spirit are certainly happy to have acquired 19-year-old midfielder Owen Beck, shortly after he returned from vacation.
Friday night, Beck scored his seventh goal in his last five games to maintain the impressive pace following his trade from Peterborough to Saginaw.
Beck's 28th goal of the season, scored thanks to a stunning shot from the middle of the goal during a massive run, wasn't enough for the Spirit, who fell 6-3 to the Sudbury Wolves.
The Wolves were particularly buoyed by the performance of Dalibor Dvorski, the Slovak star forward, who scored 30 goals in his 36th match of the season.
Beck also had an assist in the loss to bring his point total to 27 in 17 games in a Spirit uniform.
The Canadiens prospect has collected 11 points in his last five games.
Xhekaj doesn't blush either
Elsewhere in the Ontario Junior League, Florian Cicaj scored his club's first goal and set up the second, as the Brantford Bulldogs beat the Owen Sound Attack 3-0.
Chikaj found his way last month, and now has 26 goals in 50 games, double his net output in 68 games during the 2022-2023 calendar.
The younger Arber brother has added ten goals to his record in his last nine matches.
For their part, defenseman Len Hutson (NCAA Boston University) and forward Philippe Machar (Kitchener) were erased from the scorers list on Friday night.
