His persistence finally paid off. A woman living in New South Wales (Australia) won $20 million in the National Lottery in early April. A nice jackpot almost eluded him. As she says The LoadThe Lottery's official website said the Gladstone resident had been playing her lucky numbers for “a very long time”.
But tired of never winning, she almost threw in the towel. “I'm going to get rid of this ticket because I haven't won anything lately,” he explains. Finally, he decided to try his luck one last time and replayed his favorite numbers (1, 7, 10, 19, 20, 25, 31), partly inspired by the birthdays of his loved ones.
She thought she won $20,000
Fortune finally smiled on him. When she checked her ticket the next morning, the Australian realized she was the winner. “I ran to my family and said: 'I won $20,000!',” he tells our colleagues. People close to her took a closer look at her ticket and told her she was mistaken about the amount: she actually won $20 million.
“I still can't believe it. I think I'm in a fairy tale (…) I'm thinking I'm going to wake up and come back to reality,” he says. Now a multi-millionaire, the woman plans to spoil her loved ones, travel the world and buy the house of her dreams.
