Recap: Hurricanes 2 – Islanders 2 (Overtime)
The Carolina Hurricanes could become the first team to advance to the second round of the playoffs on Saturday.

The Islanders started the third period with a strong play and we took advantage of it. Jean-Gabriel Pageau opened his meter to give his team the lead.
However, Stefan Noysen brought everyone back to square one to force overtime.
The game of musical chairs didn't work at all for the Islanders goaltenders. After seeing Ilya Sorokin allow three goals on 14 shots on Thursday night, Roy sent veteran Semyon Varlamov into the fray this afternoon.
Brent Burns, Dmitry Orlov and Sebastian Aho scored in the latest win for his team. Pierre Engvall and Brock Nelson responded for the Isles, who dominated on an 11-3 shooting spree in the third period without finding a way to tie the game.
Only 4 teams out of 206 teams have been able to overcome a 3-0 deficit in a straight series. The Islanders also beat the Pittsburgh Penguins in 1975.
