Britain’s royals congratulated Prince Harry and Meghan after announcing the birth of their daughter, Lillibet “Lily” Diana Mountbatten-Windsor, who was born at Santa Barbara Country Hospital in Santa Barbara, California, on Friday.

Her first name refers to the prince’s grandmother, Elizabeth II, as well as to his late mother, Princess Diana, who died in 1997.
A spokesperson for the Queen wrote on Instagram: ‘Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of Lillipet Diana! The Queen, Prince of Wales, Duchess of Cornwall and the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge are all delighted with this news. Lilibet is Her Majesty’s eleventh grandson.
Grandfather Prince Charles’ representative commented: “Congratulations to Harry, Meghan and Archie on the arrival of little Lillibet Diana. We wish them all the best.”
The same joy is shared by Cambridge. ‘We are very happy with the good news of the arrival of baby Lily. ‘Congrats Harry, Meghan and Archie,’ Prince William said.
British Prime Minister Boris Johnson tweeted: “Congratulations to the Duke and Duchess of Sussex on the birth of their daughter.”
Prince Harry and Meghan Markle tied the knot in 2018 and had their son, Archie, a year later.
In January 2020, they ended their role as members of the royal family and moved to California.
The birth comes months after the royal couple interviewed Oprah Winfrey, saying that Buckingham Palace does not support them financially and emotionally, and accusing some members of the Crown of being racist.
