Rolling Stones spokesperson Charlie Watts, 80, is at risk of missing the band’s fall US tour due to medical reasons.
“Charlie had a successful surgery,” the spokesperson said, but his doctors believe he needs rest, without further explanation.
“A few weeks before rehearsals, it’s disappointing, to say the least, but it must be said that it was something no one expected,” he added.
The tour was originally scheduled last year, and has been postponed due to the coronavirus pandemic. It is scheduled to begin on September 26 in St. Louis and end on November 20 in Austin, Texas.
Charlie Watts will be replaced by Steve Jordan.
“We can’t wait to find Charlie again once he’s fully recovered,” Mick Jagger wrote on Twitter. The singer and lead added, “Thank you to our friend Steve Jordan for joining us so we can perform all the shows planned for you this fall.”
