A 17-year-old is wanted by Montreal police after he managed to escape last Thursday when two officers tried to handcuff him.
A video of the arrest went viral this weekend on social media. We see two agents from the City of Montreal Police Department (SPVM) unsuccessfully trying to handcuff a teenager.
He was arrested earlier Thursday during another event. He gave the police a pseudonym. Later, the police identified him again and arrested him on charges of obstructing the penal code. This is the context in which the video takes place,” confirms Rafael Bergeron, a spokesperson for SPVM.

In the footage, the two officers tried to handcuff him near their car. The young man then begins to be verbally and physically aggressive, according to Mr. Bergeron.
“At this point, everything escalates. He ran away and the cops released the handcuffs because of the heat of the situation. The young man ran away and we still haven’t found him,” he says. […] And no, the handcuffs weren’t found later either.”
According to SPVM, the 17-year-old could face several charges that will be verified by the attorney general. The individual is also known to the police. The video of the altercation between him and the police will be presented as evidence in court.
