It was clear a few weeks ago, the Canadians want Pierre-Luc Dubois and Pierre-Luc Dubois wants to play for the Canadians. Murat Attis, who covers the Winnipeg Jets games for Athletic, made it clear this week that it’s only a matter of time before we see Pierre-Luc Dubois wearing a confinement uniform.
Explained himself in the podcast Sick podcast by Tony Marinaro.
“I think at some point. Whether it’s this summer or next, or even in a couple of years where he’ll be an unrestricted free agent, it seems inevitable at this point if you ask me whether Pierre-Luc Dubois will be the Montreal Canadiens someday.” — Murat Attis in the podcast Sick podcast
Commerce is the goal now, but if the Jets sign him for two years, we can expect Montreal to sign him in 2024, when Dubois turns 26 and is an unrestricted free agent.
This morning, we learned from Martin Leclerc that The Canadians were going to show three players on the planes, during the draft, to avoid giving options and freeing up money by acquiring Dubois. Unfortunately, this is still not enough in Winnipeg, where leaders seem to want more.
As my colleague Felix Forget explained last Wednesday, Christian Dvorak will definitely be part of that deal, if it comes true. Viewed correctly, the Canadian has Nick Suzuki, Kirby Deutch and Christian Dvorak among his top spots. Paying Dvorak $4.45 million to play the fourth line is overkill, right?
No matter what happens, Murat Ates said it well: Dubois will play for the Canadian. Being aware of the podcast, he noted, a Quebec agent had revealed that Montreal was a destination his client wanted to go to.
In fact, we’ve already known that since Wednesday, since Dubois’ agent, Pat Bryson, revealed everything to TVA Sport. He explained that he had nothing to hide because Dubois was a free agent with compensation, So he said that Quebec would like to play for Montreal.
Canadian lovers, it’s time to play the patience game. We now know that Pierre-Luc Dubois will likely become Canadian, but we still don’t know when. Very soon we hope!
