His brother Thomas said on Facebook that the latter died on Tuesday at his residence in California, a few days after his birthday.
“A beloved husband, big brother, uncle, adoptive father, godfather and friend, Bill recently celebrated his 90th birthday surrounded by his loved ones,” he wrote.
Born in Cleveland, Ohio in 1934, Bill Cobbs served in the Army and then as a car salesman before moving to New York to pursue his dream of becoming an actor.
After several stage roles, Mr. Cobbs made his big screen debut at the age of 40, appearing in the film Pelham took one two three.
