Apple Self-Service Repair will be available starting in 2025 in Canada

TORONTO – It will soon be possible to repair your iPhone or MacBook yourself, as Apple plans to include Canada in its self-service repair program starting next year.

The California tech giant announced that this program, which was first launched in 2022 in the United States, will arrive in Canada in 2025, likely during the first months of the year.

The program provides users who want to repair their devices with access to original Apple replacement parts, tools, and repair guides.

This program covers more than 40 products, including the latest iPhone and MacBook models. The range extends up to iPhone 12.

Interested users will have to pay for all the parts and rent the tools needed to make the repairs, but they will have free access to manuals and diagnostic software that will help them solve their problems.

When Canada enters the program next year, it will become the 34th country where Apple will offer self-repair.

This announcement from the Apple brand comes as the federal government continues to propose changes to copyright law so that consumers can repair their products more easily and at a lower cost.

The bill that includes these changes was passed by the House of Commons last year, but is still under consideration in the Senate.
