Entries for the 2023 “World’s Ugliest Dog” contest, which aims to raise awareness of canine beauty in all its forms, have been officially accepted since Saturday, ABC News reported.
According to the competition siteThe purpose of the competition is to celebrate the “flaws that make all dogs special and unique.”
Entertaining and fun, the contest also has a mandate to promote adoption, since many of the dogs in the contest were rescued from shelters, we can still read on.
“The World’s Ugliest Dogs contest isn’t about making fun of ‘ugly’ dogs, it’s about having fun with adorable personalities and showing the world that these dogs really are beautiful,” the site continues.
Those wishing to participate in the competition must submit an application file that includes a photo, a short biography and vaccination history.
The official competition is scheduled for June 23 at the Sonoma-Marin Fair in California.
In 2022, the winner of the “World’s Ugliest Dog” competition is 17-year-old Mr. Happy Face.
