Attractive interest rates: Beware of these fake loan sites!

The Authority of the Financial Markets (AMF) is warning Quebecers about fraudulent sites offering private loans at attractive interest rates.

The Arab Monetary Fund explained in a press release published on Wednesday that criminals always use the same strategy.

From an illegal site, victims apply for a loan. To open their file, the scammers ask for payment. People who think they are dealing with a real loan site must transfer money via Interac to several email addresses, including some personal ones. Ultimately, their loan money is never repaid to them.

According to the AMF, the websites they generally use are: paolofolco-courtier.ca, landry-courtier.com, couriercanada.ca, courier-canada.com, tremay-solutions.ca, and sirois-finance.ca.

How not to fall into the trap?

Several checks can be performed before obtaining a private loan or financial products. Here are some tips, according to AMF:

– For loans: Check with the Consumer Protection Office whether the company or person you are contacting is already registered with the office.

– For the financial suppliers: check the Automation system if this company or this person is registered with the Automotive Company, as a consultant to the Enterprise Registry and individual autorisings to the executive, or to contact the Information Centre. authority.

– If the company or person is registered with the office or authority, contact them using the contact information provided by the office or authority to verify their identity.

– Do not disclose your personal information or transfer money before completing these checks.
