Audrey Leduc broke the Quebec women's 100 meters record, which had stood for nearly 36 years, by winning the event. Florida RelaysSaturday, in Gainesville.
Leduc crossed the distance in 11 seconds 8/100 to beat the old regional mark of 11.13 seconds, established in 1988 by Julie Rocheleau.
The main participant did not immediately realize the extent of her achievement during her first individual event of the year in the 100 meters on an outdoor track.

I was a little confused […] The house announcer said that, and it was my teammates, who were in the same race as me, who came to see me, and then I realized the time was 11.08 seconds. I was in shock
the new Quebec record holder responded the day after her success.
You wouldn't necessarily expect to run this long at the beginning of the season when it's your first race. I was really in shock.
Gatineau athlete took a huge
30 hundredths of a second to achieve his best ever, which then stood at 11.38 seconds and was achieved in July 2023, in Toronto.
Her time leaves her one-hundredth of a second behind the Olympic standard of 11.07 seconds. A few sub-11.20 second performances over the coming months should ensure his presence at the Summer Games in Paris.
The goal in the coming weeks will be to achieve Olympic level
points out Leduc, who hopes to log the time needed to confirm his eligibility for the Olympics.
Remember, the Canadian record belongs to Angela Bailey. She covered the distance in 10.98 seconds in 1987.

Leduc also achieved the best time in Quebec history in the 60-meter indoor race in February, with a time of 7.22 seconds. She then improved that record to 7.21 seconds on March 2 in Glasgow, Scotland, a week before her 25th birthday.
She explained that he has worked for several years and is also a very good indoor season. We expected it to be a good start to the outdoor season as well, but not necessarily to this extent. It all came together well, I'm in good shape, and I think it's all coming together that has led to this time.
The fact remains that I still have a hard time explaining that it was 11.08 seconds. Honestly, I didn't expect it to be this low.
