France's men's and women's teams finished sixth at the Perth tournament on Sunday.
Disappointment for two French 7s teams during a tournament in Perth, Australia. Drawn in a very tough group with New Zealand, Fiji and Samoa, Jerome Darrett's men got off to a great start by beating the All Blacks Sevens (33-17). They then came close to an exploit against Fiji (26-21), conceding a late try.
In the match for 5th place, the Blues fell to South Africa (24-5) and lost again this Sunday against Ireland (21-14). In women, the effect is similar. The Blues got off to a good start in the group stage before slipping away (14-10) to win against New Zealand in the 5th place match. After another loss against USA (21-5) before finishing 6th. In the end it was impressive Argentina who won the tournament after a big win over Australia (31-5).
