Martin Necas has been at the center of swap rumors for a few months.
The Carolina Hurricanes are known to want to trade the talented young forward, but the club really wants to get the best possible deal for the Czech.
The Montreal Canadiens have shown interest, but so far, there are no real leaders in the race to land Necas.
According to what David Pagnotta reported Fourth periodCH will still be in the running for his services and two other teams will be at the top of that race.
While the Hurricanes are in trade talks with teams about Martin Necas, word is that Carolina is looking to complete a “hockey trade” and not an exclusive deal for future assets. Teams like Nashville, Seattle and Montreal are among those still believed to be in the mix.

Depending on the tweet From Pagnotta, we know there will be other teams interested, but CH, the Nashville Predators and the Seattle Kraken would consider Necas the most.
Additionally, the Hurricanes are reportedly looking to complete a “hockey trade” rather than one involving prospects and picks.
This complicates the task a bit for the Canadian, since it's essentially young players/prospects plus draft picks he has to offer.
On the other hand, the rumors surrounding Mike Matheson are strong, and this would be the perfect time to trade for him, as his value is so high.
With Matheson as the basis for the trade, he won't miss much to add to complete the trade.
Knowing that Kent Hughes wants to improve his offense by adding a good young player, Necas would fill that well.
The 25-year-old forward collected 71 points in the 2022-23 season, while in the 2023-24 season he collected 53 points in 77 games.
Being able to play both as a midfielder and as a winger, he will be a very important addition to CH's roster.
Would it be a good idea to replace Matheson with someone like Necas?
Personally, I think so. The surplus of left-handed defenders is the talk, and trading Matheson in his prime makes a lot of sense.
