CH’s first choice: seven candidates under the magnifying glass

Another five weeks until the NHL draft, in which the fifth Canadians will speak.

To many, it seems certain that Conor Bedard (yeah, yeah!), Adam Fantelli, Will Smith, and Leo Carlson will find their takers when Kent Hughes takes to the stage at Nashville’s Bridgestone Arena.

If necessary, the Russian Matvey Mechkov, a very great talent, will always be available. But does CH want to use its selection by drafting a player associated with its KHL club for several more years? Would he want to choose a skater, no matter how good, immersed in the heart of a social and political situation that transcended sport?

If it were up to him, our journalist Anthony Martino would “100%” do it. A few weeks ago (as you can hear again below), he also mentioned that it would be “very sad” to see Montreal ignore an elite player like Mitchkov.

But it is very difficult, especially at this point, to know the true intentions of CH in relation to the dynamic striker.

So Martino decided, on Monday evening in “JiC”, to analyze the match of seven more players who might interest the team if he chooses to let Myshkov through.
